This year’s Ball Seed® Customer Days event was a whole new experience at the Ball FloraPlant area in The Gardens at Ball in West Chicago, Illinois. For our space, we wanted to create a meeting place where customers could spend some time and talk, take photos and generate content, and explore everything Ball FloraPlant has to offer.

It All Started Out with a Sketch
What better way to make a splash than with a fountain! This became the focal point for our space, which showcased new and tried-and-true varieties and helped bring everything together. The patio area, furniture, and umbrellas made it a cozy and inviting space that visitors could enjoy during their stay.
The Ball FloraPlant Fountain definitely had the “Wow factor!” In fact, it’s now a permanent installation in this area. Not only is it a focal point in the gardens, but it provides a place that makes it easier for customers to look at all the new varieties and makes it a very functional work of art. Another new addition was the New Varieties Gateways. Although signage for new varieties has always been an important part of our displays, visitors could now go directly to the gateways. It was a great way for customers to discover the new products for 2026, as well as what were improved varieties all in one designated spot in our garden.

Utilizing Existing Space and Benches
We were able to utilize existing benches and landscape areas to show the commercial varieties and bigger picture solutions. These included varieties for heat tolerance, as well as mixed containers and flower combinations. Another product on the bench that we wanted to call out specifically were our Geraniums from our YecaFlora farm. This display showcased all the varieties in their big bold colors, and they were a big hit!

It's thanks to the hard work of our team that the Ball FloraPlant area really came together, but a big thank you goes to the grounds crew who did all the building and moving of the gateways and fountain! They began working on our space on October 1, 2024. Lupe Arellano, Grounds Coordinator, coordinated the installations for this massive project. Landon Gibbs designed the fountain and the garden bed beneath the fountain, which was an awesome way to utilize that space. We can’t wait until next year!
