Spotlight™ Ipomoea

Spotlight™ Ipomoea
  • The first compact ipomoea series offers popular heart and cut-shaped leaf varieties!
  • Spotlight’s compact, naturally branched habit is ideal for packs and small pots. Great for mixes, too.
  • The series features bold, eye-catching colors and holds its color in extreme heat.
  • It is a great compact solution for southern regions.

Our breeding in ipomoea was targeted at a naturally compact plant that would not need a pinch. Spotlight was the result, and it represents the only ipomoea on the market for no-pinch production. We see a direct application for Spotlight in southern markets for small pots and containers where other ipomoea become too vigorous.

No pinch/No PGR

North

Both Spotlight colors were produced at our West Chicago, IL, location with no pinch or PGR applications. Our average daily temperature (ADT) was 70°F (21°C) at the beginning of the grow-out and lowered to 66°F (19°C) after plants were established to help tone finished habits.

South Region

Spotlight has the potential to make an exceptional quart, gallon and even 6-pack. Our trials showed that no pinch and no PGR were the best methods to produce a high-quality finished ipomoea. While our ADT was higher at 74°F (23°C), we had twice the amount of light, so our plants still stayed tight and wellbranched.
